Man survives Niagara falls leap
here's where he jumped, if you can imagine, the man was right below me, you'll see in the next shots... :)

a man watching the beautiful falls, then he went home...we was just watching...he was the only one allowed to do this...you're not allowed to get this close to the falls
...when we walked up the sidewalk here on the main road we heard a commotion...i went to take a look at what they we're all fussing about...this man stood here for about 5 minutes...he left his spot started walking back towards me...i was kinda nervous because he would've seen me...thought i'd be a pest...but i didn't want to miss this opportunity...because i don't think i would've ever come across this again...i was about 20 paces from him...he didn't even notice me anyways, so that was good because i kinda froze when he started walking back towards me...i was thinking to myself, what am i gonna do? step aside for him? i actually felt kind of embarrassed...
...as he walked back my way, he changed his mind again, he did that a couple times actually...he turned his back again away from me, back towards the water to take a look once more...it must have been so peaceful...because even when you're at the top where you are suppose to be...it's relaxing, you can hear the waters calm just before they hit the edge, but once you get to the point where he's standing, it's loud and the waters are rushing down, you can feel it in your heart, the thud.
he stood there for another 5-10 minutes enjoying the view...what a view it is...have you been here before?...you could hear everyone murmuring and whispering, "oh my goodness, what's he gonna do? is he going to jump? what's wrong with him?" bla bla bla this guy didn't jump...
...i wondered about him and sometimes still do, wonder what he was thinking, feeling, he must've been sad, who knows, the police were waiting close by too...i know when i go to the waterfalls i feel better, it's a pretty sight especially when the rainbows come out...these pics were taken many moons ago...you see you're not allowed to go over the edge...when he was finally done they quietly took him away, peacefully, they let him have his time there, who knows maybe they even escorted him there? because they never chased him or yelled at him while he was on the corner...when he came back he didn't argue or fight...he just got in the car...but i bet he enjoyed himself for that moment huh?
...it was scary just watching him there on the edge, very scary, i was just praying he wouldn't jump in...for some reason i felt or sensed he just wanted to feel the waters beneath him and get as close as he could...no one in the crowd could even yell or scream either because i think they were as shocked as i was...we all waited patiently for him to come back...and he did...the end. stories should always have a happy ending right? :) this is fun...i like this, i like this one a lot and this story...nite nite everyone xoxo i'm glad i did this one now too for all of you, my teacher gave me a good idea...which reminded me of this story i told before..., i hope you like it? i'm shy...very sensitive...did you like my story today? it's for you!

recently in the news someone else did...jump in...which he shouldn't have done...and survived...but this is not a good thing to do...no one should jump over waterfalls...it's a miracle he survived you know...next time talk to someone instead...there a lot of good people you can call...or even write it down on paper and give it to someone if you can't talk...talk to the wind if you have to...i swear on my life someone will hear you...this incident, the man jumping happened in march 2009

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. — An Ontario man was recovering in hospital Thursday after he became the third person to survive a plunge unaided over Niagara Falls.
The 30-year-old man is being treated for a gash in the head and is expected to make a full recovery in a few days.
Chief Doug Kane with Niagara Parks Police said that no charges are expected to be laid.
He said the man was from Western Ontario but would not disclose the exact location. His name will not be released.
At about 2:11 p.m. Wednesday, police on the Canadian side responded to a call that a visitor had observed a man climb over the retaining wall south of the Horseshoe Falls and enter the rapids above the brink.
The visitor saw the man go over the falls and into the river near the Ontario Power Generating Building.
Firefighters swam into the area in an attempt to rescue the man. He refused assistance and waded into the centre of the Niagara River, police said.
With the help of a helicopter, crews finally managed to pull the man back to shore.
A Niagara Falls firefighter, on a tether and wearing a dry suit entered the water and took control of the man.
He was taken to Greater Niagara General Hospital with signs of hypothermia and head trauma, police said.
Chief Doug Kane with Niagara Parks Police said that no charges are expected to be laid.
Roger Woodward, survived a fall over the Horseshoe Falls in 1960. He was seven years old and wearing a life-jacket.
October, 2003, Kirk Jones of Canton, Mich., became the first person to go over Niagara Falls and survive, wearing only the clothes on his back. He was 40 at the time.

After a long hike through the mountains of Yellowstone, I came across over 40 horses sprinting from one meadow to the next. I stepped behind a tree to get out of the way and shot this one.

You know how much I love this one right? I missed my opportunity to shoot horses, there were only 4 horses there though and they were grazing...i went with my friend, a little birdie, this robin...and the horses were very peaceful...oh and I love this song

Whenever I drive from my home to downtown Austin, I listen to a few podcasts. One of them is the TWIP (This Week in Photography) podcast, and they recently interviewed Rebekka from Iceland. I had been lucky enough to shoot with her before when I was there, so it was nice to take a little trip down memory lane. When we had met, she was just getting into knitting, and now it's turned into this major business for her, besides her other artistic pursuits. If you visit her Flickr page, you can see a bunch of nice photos as well as some of her sweaters. Besides those, she also made this green scarf seen below (you can see her knitting it here al fresco). She makes each one by hand and they take about a month... she'll make you one, but be sure to offer her 4x her normal rate just to make sure you get to the top of the list!
Anyway, while I was with her, we went out to this fjord area about 100km outside of Reykjavik. There were horses milling about, so we got out to do some exploring. At first I was surprised how tame the horses were around humans and how easy it was for Rebekka, who, hitherto was known only to me as the camera whisperer. I started going back through my photos from that trip, and I found this one to share with y'all.

One of her favorite things to do is jump in a car and go drive around Iceland to get lost. I like that so much too, that's just what I did! Below the photo of Rebekka are a few shots from other fjords that knife into the meandering coastline and various places that kept me walking across the tundra as moody skies rolled in. She says she doesn't take the raw beauty of Iceland for granted, and I believe her.

I was laughing when I was reading your facebook comments, hahahaha silly! again! especially the first few comments oh my goodness...and you know what, he is right, he must be a disney veteran, i tell you i go on a rollercoaster ride sometimeshe's a good dad...sweet dreams everyone how much is a sweater anyway? they're so PRETTY! i bet a lot of people could use one up here in the cold...can you let us know?
