I can't believe the afternoon I had, I had to post before I forget...anyways, I was crossing the street when I saw this man...sitting on the street so I had to give him some dollars...actually i gave him coins...2 shiny golden loonies and 2 spiffy quarters to be exact...and then he said, "thank you very much" or oooohhhh! I can't remember...someting to that affect...anyways...so...then I started talking to him...because I like talking people, to interesting people too and i wonder about their stories and how they got here...to this point...on the streets...
...he said he's from Winnipeg...but I could already tell that because he wrote it down...and then he told me he lived near green something and some number i can't really remember and he lived near the forks in wpg he said near those two towers there...i believe there's hotels there...(i do this all on a whim, i guess that's life, similar to...another metaphor but i'll get better at reporting...note to self remember to write down at the scene) Oooohhh I'm so stupid for not writing this down at the time...I was kinda in shock from the events that happened minutes later....keep reading....
...anyways...so he told me he's trying to get back home...he showed me his bus ticket...it said April something...to May 23rd...? with the bus???? wierd...he said, "I'm not a bum...I'm going to Uof T but all my stuff got stolen from the hostel...he said he had books, $400 dollars and a digital camera...stolen while he was taking a shower" ???? he said they went in to his room when he was showering...wierd...he told me he was at this famous hostel on Spadina...so i asked him how's the hostel...he said, "not bad there's rooms you can get with a swipe? and then there's rooms where you can bunk with 10 people..." i was like, "ok" just taking in all the information...
...anyways...so yah I can't believe this afternoon...anyways...I think I have to go back now to talk to him again, just so I can show you the bus ticket he had!!!!! With the bus ticket he went in to his backpack and pulled it out of his book, it was in this book called, The Eagles Brood.
...Oh yah the appearance of this man, his clothes weren't that dirty, scuffed, roughed up but...on his face he had some cuts, one on his neck, maybe from shaving...and I asked him what are you taking at U of T he said, "Business" but he doesn't look like the type does he? but who am i to judge...all i knew is that he was in a rough spot..tough spot...he wanted to get back home...i'm not sure for what....oh yah...he also said...he went to some building office to hopefully get another copy of his id but they wouldn't give it to him, because he had none (it was stolen...) he said the office said they would've had to call his home and say the code word...but no one was home and his little brother was with him, so the office couldn't help him either...so he just wanted money to take the bus home...and he mentioned his transcripts were going through...anyways...that was today...

Anyways...like I said he said, "I'm not a bum, i'm going to U of T for business, i'm registering but my whole wallet got stolen all my id...and i'm so embarassed, I"m trying to get home...and my little brother's down the street doing the same thing...(meaning he was on the next block I assumed? also begging for money...) I'm trying to get a bus ticket for the both of us..." I asked him how old is your brother? "20, well he's not that little but..." I asked him, "how old are you?" he said, "29..." anyways...I actually didn't ask for his name until the end....because I got side tracked by another person? As I was staring at him after our conversation, he bowed his head down, while he was sitting there...I got a picture of him...and put my camera away...and then...this lady...
This lady, who was blind was walking towards my way, that I assumed because she had a walking stick, a cane and dark glasses on...of course there were a whole bunch of people around...two men in a business suit beside me to the right some other common folk, a couple ladies and more gents in regular attire...(Kevin was to the left)...anyways...so people were ignoring her...she said it politely, stopped in her footsteps and said, "Excuse me...." a second passes, "Excuse me" she says again...the gentlemen who were right in front of her did not hear her...and they were too busy talking about business...so! since I was here at the "right time right place" and that...she got my attention, I walked a few paces up towards her...
and said, "Yes...?" and smiled...
she said, "can you help me?"
I said, "sure..." (i tell you this is trippy)
"can you help me walk across the street?"
i thought to myself...oh my goodness i can't believe this is happening but cool "ok" I said
she said, "thank you very much, ok can i hold you on your right hand?"
I was like, "ok" so I went on the other side... her cane was in the right hand so her left hand was free
she's like, "are you crossing?"
i said, "no" but i i thought to myself now i am...with her, so i guess i was crossing, she didn't say anything after that about the answer i gave to her...
then she's like "ok the lights are going to change soon..."
this is all the while, (10-15 seconds) while we were waiting at the intersection, it happened so fast...
then when the lights changed, i told her ok we can cross now....and we walked south, she held my arm...
she said, "see i told you the lights were going to change...i can tell by the sound of the cars..."
(sorry i didn't write down peoples next time i will try)
i was like, "oh, ok" thinking she has the sense also...of course, since her sight was gone she uses her other senses, she was a big lady, very tall, curly dyed reddish brown hair and she wore these dark sunglasses called, "Cocoons" by "Live Eyewear"
and half way through the street and after her comment about how she knew the lights were going to change i said, "ok well i'm glad i got to help you across..." i was smiling and happy to have helped her, it was a great feeling
she's like, "thank you"
...so as we reached the other side of the street i was like, "ok bye" she said, "bye thank you, have a nice evening..." and then that was going to be it... but...
i said, "you too (to have a nice evening)...what's your name?"
she said, "lindsay"
then she asked mine and i said mine and said, "you too" (it was nice to have met her) and smiled, so how much time did we spend together? well probably not even a minute if we calculate the time it takes for a light to change and then walk across the street...still was a good feeling...
and then i went back to the otherside again crossed the street and saw the man sitting there... still i asked him what his name was...
he said, "kevin"
then he asked what's mine and i told him...
and he said, "nice to meet you" and smiled
i said, "you too" and smiled... :)
and then we went on our merry ways, i hope he'll be ok and finds his way home...????
